UNHCR National Office for the Czech Republic
The UNHCR Office in Prague, Czech Republic, opened in 1992
in connection with Czechoslovakia's accession to the 1951
Convention and the 1967 Protocol. Through its protection,
programme, and public information activities, UNHCR's main
objective is to support the government's efforts to establish
a comprehensive, sustainable and self-reliant asylum system
enabling the country to deal with asylum seekers in accordance
with international norms.
The Office also focuses on the integration
process of the recognised refugees. Through its Roma program,
the Office pays special attention to Roma issues.
